Ok ladies so let’s talk brows. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, I get it, but the popular Instagram eyebrow that is trending of dark, over-painted, vinyl looking brows are extremely unnatural and can overwhelm delicate features and actually make the eyes look smaller.
I love that more persons are embracing bold brows but ladies there is a BIG difference between heavy and full. For tips on achieving a well-groomed brow that will complement your facial features keep reading.
According to world renowned makeup artist Rae Morris, “When it comes to facial features, little has more power and impact than the shape of your brows.” If shaped correctly they can give an instant face-lift effect, the wrong shape will do the complete opposite.
Let’s examine some common brow styling faux pas:
Rounded Eyebrows – This shape looks similar to a semi-circle. These brows add weight to your face and can create the illusion of a larger nose and droopy eyes. This brow shape is caused by over tweezing below the eyebrowmin the wrong place with the hope of getting the perfect arch.
Thin highly arched brows – This shape can have you looking constantly surprised or angry. Instead of lifting the eye and creating a youthful illusion the complete opposite is achieved. Think, aging yourself by ten years.
Eyebrows that are too far apart – These brows can end up looking short and uninteresting and can also widen your nose like you can’t imagine. It can be caused by over plucking, removing the tiny hairs at the beginning of the brow or just genetics.
Eyebrows tail is too long – These brows wrap around the outside corner of the eye and create a droopy effect visually pulling the eye down. Brows should be styled to lift and elongate the eye and should end going outwards.
I recommend going to a brow specialist to have your brows shaped, once this is done you can maintain them yourself by plucking the new hairs growing in.
If you prefer to shape your brows yourself here are a few foolnproof tricks to perfecting them.
1. Brow hairs should start at the imaginary line, lining up with the outside of corresponding nostril. For the illusion of a thinner nose, start brows at your desired nose bridge width.
