A brain tumour was successfully removed from a 10 year old goldfish, George in Australia.
George’s owners took him into the veterinarian when they observed that he was having problems eating and moving around. The veterinarian found the source of the fish’s problem to be that of the brain tumour, to which he recommended to the owner’s either put the fish to sleep or to do the £125 life saving surgery.
The fish was put under general anaesthesia and oxygenated pond water was pumped through George’s body during the removal of the tumour.
