If you happen to be cruising along one of Jamaica’s scenic coast, you may on occasion pause to admire the ever changing landscape that has been transformed with incredible architectural edifices that make you want to walk barefoot along the properties and just immerse yourself in dream designs that are as eye catching as they are elaborate.
Even in these times of uncertainty when many are grappling with the pressures of the pandemic, others are busy ensuring that when the world is normalised again, people will have magnificent places in which to laugh, live, love and lounge with all the creature comforts that they need plus many of the ostentatious amenities that they want. And the man behind the scene making many real estate dreams come true is an individual who is as hard working as he is humble, as memorable as he is mysterious.
Never a lover of the lime light, Andre De la Motta is an architect who is all about turning cement and steel into sanctuaries for his clients. Gifted with a flair for the eye-catching and the insight to know what appeals to clients’ personalities as well as their purses, De La Motta is the architectural genie that can take any project from a basic idea to completion. BUZZZ magazine sat down with the design maverick recently to get his take on what is happening in the industry locally and where he see it heading in 2021 and beyond.
As the man behind MasterCore Jamaica Limited, De la Motta has his finger on the pulse of what is hot and happening in real estate and construction across the length and breadth of the island. “The mission at the start of our company was that everything we designed, changes the landscape for a more modern look. Secondly it was to provide returning residents with a secure outlet where they can build and invest in Jamaica.
I was sitting on a train in New York and met a Jamaican who mentioned that one of his dreams was to move back to Jamaica and build a nice familyhome but there was no secure entity with which to do it. We have heard all the horror stories. So I decided to cater for most of these people and they don’t even have to be here in Jamaica to track and guide the project. When clients see the level of transparency we offer, it is very comforting for them. We have become a one stop shop in the industry as we do architectural planning, drawing and complete construction.”
We are given a certain time frame that we are oblivious to, and so we have to make an impact. For me, happiness is not a destination; it is a mindset hence material stuff doesn’t make me happy.
Andre de la Motta
