Animal influence on décor has been around since the beginning of civilization, starting with the use of animal hide for the coverings of dwellings and the use of fur for warmth. However as civilization developed, fur became less of a necessity and more of a status symbol. The same is true for exotic skins such as snake, eel and crocodile, but enough on the history lesson.
