The Dawning is a musical social commentary by Irishman Owen Casey. This 11 track conscious album is a heavily inspired Reggae collection filled with strong melodies and reggae vibes that are sure to resonate.
Each track written by Casey is a cleverly articulated expression of life and love in powerful lyric, with words such as “we’ve been living in an invisible prison, it’s a 21st century penitentiary” from the single “INVISIBLE PRISON” and “now that our lives have become ruled by time, we don’t stand a chance as a branch cut off from the vine” from the single “ONE”.
The album is strongly complimented by instrumental melodies and background vocals that support the Reggae tone against the distinct Irish accent of lead singer Casey. Notwithstanding, each song on the album provides an engaging representation of the natural cultural ambiance that authentic Reggae music provides.
The album does carry a one drop Reggae beat throughout to maintain the essence of the music, with slight fluctuations in the music to emphasize the variations in the tracks. An appropriate mood setter, this album will take you to a place of solace and have you lost in the music.
Casey recently completed a brief tour sharing his musical styles and love for our native Reggae sound with the people of Jamaica; making 11 stops around Kingston, Jamaica with his musical partners ITALEE & the Circle of Brethren in what they present as the Owen Casey and the iManClan Experience. His album, his music and the man himself of Irish roots and Reggae soul are quite the buzz and definitely worth giving a listening ear.
