If ever you have wondered what the outcome of “Bongo Music” and Reggae would be, then you need not wonder any further. Instead, go to iTunes, Amazon Music or CD Baby and purchase a disk or mp3 digital download of the latest offering by the eccentric music group, No-Maddz.
The self proclaimed shottas of reggae, have presented another serving of their unique brand of music with the release of a second studio album entitled, “Sly and Robbie presents No-Maddz.” Produced by reggae duo Sly and Robbie, the album features a track listing of 12 songs written and performed by group members; Christopher Gordon, Sheldon Shepherd, O’Neil Peart, Everaldo Creary and Christopher Downer, which includes the quintet’s hit single, ‘Romance’ as it’s introductory track, flowing seamlessly to the final track entitled ‘Order My Steps’, of an old school dancehall-esque vibe.
The album also includes the group’s hit single ‘Shotta’ as well as the popular ‘Puku Poo’ (Rise Above). Listen to the album in sequential order. You will be greeted by a light and subdued version of the group, which for many, may be a welcomed departure from the signature rough and tough sound, punctuated by a unique style of social commentary. While on the whole, this offering is nothing short of genius, there are admittedly a few misses. Two of the twelve tracks (Some Kind of Way and Let’s Dance), while produced to perfection, were just a bit off and were more suited for an EP or independent single.
