Dream Wknd 2026 kicked off in spectacular fashion on Thursday night as thousands of revellers descended on Tropical Bliss Beach for Bad Beaches, an explosive opening party that officially launched the island’s biggest summer festival. The high-energy event transformed the beachfront venue into a pulsating playground of dancehall, reggae and celebration, setting the stage for an unforgettable weekend in Montego Bay.
In a landmark move, Bad Beaches was staged in partnership with the Vanguards of the West, a collective of Montego Bay promoters, drawing an impressive mix of local partygoers and international visitors eager to experience the first major event of Dream Wknd 2026.
The entertainment got off to a flying start with Montego Bay entertainer Adofo, who kept the audience fully engaged with a lively performance that had patrons singing along and waving their phones in the air.
However, it was hometown dancehall star Jamal who delivered one of the night’s defining moments. Making his Dream Wknd debut in front of a home crowd, the entertainer became emotional as he reflected on his journey and thanked fans for their unwavering support. His hit-filled set, featuring crowd favourites Time Bomb, Ballandor and East Syde, sent the massive audience into a frenzy.
The excitement reached another level when Jamal surprised patrons by bringing Qwella on stage for a special guest appearance, sparking thunderous cheers across the venue. He also took a moment during his performance to salute members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, praising the officers for maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment throughout the event.
Keeping the energy at fever pitch from start to finish was an all-star lineup of selectors, including Coppershot, Creep Chromatic, Fyahman, Dwayne Pow & Pioneer, and Dexta Peppa, who delivered an electrifying soundtrack of dancehall anthems, reggae hits and party favourites that kept patrons dancing well into the early morning hours.
Group Managing Director Scott Dunn hailed the opening event as the perfect start to the festival, noting that the strong turnout of Jamaicans and overseas visitors reflected Dream Wknd’s continued global appeal and commitment to delivering world-class entertainment experiences.
