Jabez Reconnects: His Inspiration and Purpose Jabez Reconnects: His Inspiration and Purpose

Clive Maurice Provost J.P., more popularly known as Jabez, continues to have success in what is arguably one of the hardest genres to dominate. Gospel artistes are often perceived to be after the money and fame. However, Jabez affirms he is all about reaching the heart and soul of his fans through inspirational and vibrant lyrics.

His new album “Reconnect”, distributed by T.A.D.S Records International is filled with moving and spiritually uplifting words to captivate any listener. “Reconnect” came about after Jabez’s short break from the music industry and he now wants to reconnect with his fans and continue to deliver music that reaches the soul.
Jabez prides himself on his ability to put in the work and ensure the task is done; he believes his fans can feel his dedication through his music. He seizes opportunities to reach out to the people at shows like Jazz in the Garden and Rebel Salute.

How does he manage to do it all? With a supportive wife of over 25 years and two lovely children, he declares he has all the love and support he needs on earth along with the guidance of God.

“I can’t live without my wife. She has dedicated her life to the children and supported my dream; which has given me the drive to move forward, in spite of my struggles.”

Such struggles have not held Jabez back. His musical portfolio is extensive with his fifth album now under his belt and a career that spans over 3 decades. From a young age Jabez believed he would be a successful artiste but envisioned a different direction: using his sultry voice to reach people through reggae music.

“I was only 12 years old when my primary school principal told me I was going to go places with that voice, I was astounded at that remark.”

That remark gave Jabez the boost to branch out as a reggae artiste, performing in various local talent shows. His life changed at the age of 21 when he became a Christian. The switch from reggae to gospel was a no-brainer, and in his own words, he never looked back.

Could such an inspiring man be inspired by anyone, you may wonder. With a smile on his face, he provides a response:

“I am inspired, not by other Gospel artists, but by powerful men like by the late great Bob Marley, Luther Vandross and Peabo Bryson. I listened to these men and I am inspired by their talent and love for their craft.”
