The Jamaica Olympic Ice Hockey Federation (JOIHF) recently held tryouts over the weekend in Toronto, Canada, for a potential Jamaica Ice Hockey team to enter the Winter Olympics.
Unfortunately the team will not be ready for the 2018 Winter Olympics but head coach, Graeme Townshend, the first Jamaican-born NHL player thinks the team is likely eight to 20 years away from being competitive in the Olympics.
JOIHF has plans underfoot to build an ice rink in Jamaica along with setting up programmes and training Jamaican talent. Look out for more updates from them as they plan a potential visit in September.
