Marcia Griffiths has enjoyed an impressive musical career as one of Jamaica’s most treasured and celebrated soulful reggae artistes. With over 55 years in the industry, Marcia Griffiths has cemented her place in Jamaican music as a living legend. For her, the journey has been a humbling experience as she never fathomed her life would transform the way it did when she pursued music.
The humble and charismatic songstress recounted her start in music in the 1960s where Phillip James discovered her. At the time, she was only 10 years old and recalls her father having to accompany her everywhere she went, despite not initially wanting her to explore music as a career. Fame and excitement were never the focus for Marcia. Her humility was always a natural part of her aura and with that foundation instilled from an early age, she was always trusting and ready to accept whatever God had in store for her.As she celebrates her longevity in the industry, she is compelled to reflect and pay homage to the golden years of music and the foundation of her artistry. “Timeless” is the new release from Marcia Griffiths; a tribute to Studio One that features her vocals on some of music’s iconic songs which were released by artistes signed to the label at that time. Among the songs featured on the album include “Rock Steady”, “Once Upon a Time” and “What Kind of World”.
With God as her guide, Marcia is determined to continue to bless the world with music for as long as she is able to. Like her music, the family-oriented, God fearing Christian and mother is bound to leave a mark that will forever remain timeless.
