A perfect time therefore, for an “all-segment” carmaker like Toyota to introduce the Rush, a 7-seater compact SUV. Taking some cues from the Daihatsu Terios, (no longer offered in this market), Rush is a 7-seater, powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder motor. On paper, it delivers 77 kW and 136 Nm, and you have the option of either a 5-speed manual gearbox or 4-speed automatic transmission. The Toyota Rush is rear-wheel driven and appears – in the Toyota tradition – to be quite frugal too, with a claimed economy figure of 6.6 Litres per 100 km. The automatic is said to consume 6.7 Litres per100 km (that converts to around 34 miles per gallon).
