Premium Quality at Affordable Price is what the 2016 Toyota Fortuner offers. To sum it up, a larger bang for your buck. Toyota Fortuner 2016 is a family-sized seven-seat SUV based on the popular HiLux utility vehicle. It’s built tough, has genuine off-road credibility, and is good at towing. It also strikes a nice balance between ruggedness and everyday usability, and it still manages to maintain an elegant luxurious look and feel.
The Body
The 2016 Fortuner comes in three models, gas two-wheel and four-wheel drive and diesel four-wheel drive. It is offered solely as a five-door wagon with seven seats and is categorised as a large SUV, but don’t let that fool you as the handling is truly superb. Dual-range gearing, rear-wheel or four-wheel drive options provide that extra oomph on off-road escapades.
Features
The 2016 Fortuner is loaded with features! Enough features to keep the car novice excited and the experts in awe. Embrace your savvy side with the cruise control, a reversing camera, and a centrally mounted, seven-inch touchscreen display with Bluetooth connectivity. Likewise the adventurer within can explore the electronic traction control, which helps you go further off road and the rear differential lock that helps maintain drive in very rough or slippery off-road conditions. Additionally, the Fortuner got your back with the intelligent hill-start assist which prevents the car from rolling backwards when starting from rest on a slope.
Difference from previous generation
Compared to the previous generations of Fortuner, this edition has an entirely new look – in terms of shape and size – with better performance according to Mr. Howard Foster, Marketing Manager of Toyota Jamaica. The new LED headlights for both low and high beam can attest to that as well as the improved suspension and bigger wheels – 18” versus 17” – that provide the smoothest ride. Safety got upgraded with the inclusion of seven air bags and the six-speed transmission, instead of the previous makes for better fuel efficiency. To top off the added improvements, the 2016 Fortuner has tiptronic and smart-entry push-to-start button for that modern feel.
Safety
Fortuners always rate well in its safety standards and the 2016 version went one step further – it raised the bar even higher. It boasts seven airbags compared to two in the previous versions, electronic stability control, and standard reversing camera and auto-on headlamps. The Fortuner’s side-curtain airbags extend past the third row of seats so that even the rearmost passengers have head protection from side impacts.
