Raising a child alone is a huge challenge, and in today’s world it is frequently faced by single mothers. Her role becomes even more difficult when she has to raise one or several boys on her own. Hers is every situation that her son faces, and she has the task of being the disciplinarian, teaching life values, as well as providing a loving and supportive environment. Her role is further multiplied as she must undertake various other responsibilities while managing the financial and domestic affairs of the home in order for her son/s to grow into successful individuals.
While every boy is different, the following are just a few of the guidelines that I’m using as I navigate yet another stage in my son’s life.
1.Be supportive
2.Teach him about consequences
3.Show him you love him
4.Teach him accountability and responsibility
5.Be real with your son
