Kids can say the ‘darndest’ things sometimes, especially when questioned about their views on matters many of us adults think is above their level of comprehension. One thing is for sure, children today are not like those a quarter-century ago. Since globalization, smartphones and technology, in general, have made information a swipe away for this ‘I-Generation’. They, therefore, know more than we did at their age and probably know a lot more than they should in certain subject areas!
As we celebrate Child’s Month, BUZZZ Magazine spent some time with children to get their perspectives on life, loves and what is important to them at their various stages of development. Let us just say, at times, their candid responses will floor you and the level of insight that they have will let you know that our future is in great hands.
This form captain is an unashamed seafood junkie who loves swimming and gymnastics as well as having a good time watching ‘Family Feud’. A budding fashionista who can never have enough pink in her wardrobe, Alana wants to be a doctor when she grows up…or maybe a model.
AJ: Yes I want to be a doctor because I want to help people stay alive.
BUZZZ: And who are your role models?
AJ: My mommy and daddy. They support me in whatever I want to do as long as it is safe.
BUZZZ: If you could have any super power for a day which would it be?
AJ: I would want to fly so when there’s traffic I can fly over it easy…
As a budding young scientist who love to do her own experiments at home, Samantha gives no credit to television because books are her passion. An old soul who love to write stories, sing and draw, she attributes pizza, her favourite food, to fueling her brain activity.
BUZZZ: You just did GSAT, which high school did you choose?
SS: You mean which high school did my mom choose (rolls her eyes). I want to go to Ardenne but ‘somebody’ put down Campion. I hear they give you a lot of homework…so no pressure, right?
BUZZZ: What is the name of the last good book that you read?
SS: ‘The Land of Stories’ by Chris Cholfer
BUZZZ: If you could have any super power for a day, which would it be?
