From Portland’s hilly interior flows crystal clear streams of water, the sea brings a constant breeze and the overhanging vegetation delivers undisturbed peace. An appeal all too great for Nayana Williams, an avid nature lover, and self-described simple Jamaican girl at heart.
The Lifespan Spring Water Co-Founder and CEO found inspiration, renewal and a livelihood in Jamaica’s most picturesque parish.
Hollywood lights, fame and the Southern California lifestyle were no incentive to Nayana who, on the advice of her husband, traded it all in an effort to move back home: Portland, Jamaica.
“I just never felt like I belonged, even though I lived there and I functioned well. I liked it, but I always felt like I was just visiting” she explained. While not a Portland native herself Nayana says ingenuity and necessity created an opportunity. “In 2003, I just got back to Jamaica and I moved to Portland where my husband is originally from.
I moved to a parish with no dominant or thriving industry so pursuing a career wasn’t a viable option. It was clear very early that I would have to do something for myself”.
Born out of an inability to find quality bottled water on the local market and the need to secure income, Lifespan Spring Water Company was formed in 2005.
