Friendships are an important part of our lives. Your friends are persons you have hand-picked to share certain experiences with. You may even lean on them for support especially when making decisions; they are the family you choose. There is a special bond that you share with your friends that is most times inexplicable; however, sometimes that solid friendship can become overwhelming. Despite the many things you may love, admire and appreciate about them, there may exist a few intricacies that are signs you should take a break from your friends.
If you have a friend that is fixated on constantly complaining or thinking the worst, especially against better judgement, then you may need to distance yourself from the individual. That energy can permeate itself overtime into your consciousness and affect the way you perceive life and its circumstances; so, before you get sucked into the vortex of negativity, give yourself space for your optimism to thrive.
You also have those friends who equate their existence to that of the sun; they believe the universe revolves around them. If you have a friend that believes things should go according to their preference despite what anyone else may desire, then you may need to bench that friend for a while and start doing your own thing. Friendships are meant to take into consideration the interests of all parties involved, not just one.
Friends are meant to support and encourage each other. If you find yourself in a friendship where your friend has an insatiable appetite for highlighting your flaws, misfortunes or limitations then it is a clear sign that you need to give this person a timeout, sometimes permanently; where they fail to see the impact of their judgement. Sometimes giving yourself room to breathe provides you with the opportunity to grow in a healthy environment.
