Waiting Forever In The Waiting Room

It was the day of Asafa Powell’s 100 metre race against Justin Gatlin and Tyson Gay in Lausanne, Switzerland. So, the first thing I wanted to change was the station being shown on the television, which hung on the wall behind the front desk staff. It was one of those nice plasma jobs but as the minutes ticked away to Asafa’s race, my need for change intensified.

As the battery power on my mobile phone dwindled, I imagined the waiting room with the re charging station, like the one you see at the Norman Manley International Airport. One column of plug-in sockets, would be an oasis in a desert for dying phones. Long suffering customers would love it! We all know, smart phones don’t have smart batteries.

felt. I began to yearn for a recliner with the raised foot rest. If my insurance company gave courtesy shoulder massages and complimentary cups of tea, I would have been in waiting room heaven.

Hmm…I kindled from this fantasy feeling thirsty. But there was no water cooler in sight! No magazines either. That’s a slow burning surprise because we’ve all flipped through the pages of Buzzz Magazine, Redbook and Cosmopolitan while waiting for medical or dental appointments.
