500 million dollars has been allocated by the Jamaican government to stem the spread of the Chickungunya virus in the island.
This money will be used for sustained and continued cleanup activities that will be done by the Nation Solid Waste Agency (NSWMA).
The money will be used to facilitate cleanup activities, as part of the national Chikungunya Virus (CHIKV) response, and other urgent needs of the Ministry of Health and health centres in the South East Regional Heath (SERRHA) will have extended from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. SERHA includes a region that stretches from Linstead to Morant Bay.
