Most of us are striving to live a healthy lifestyle, as the world becomes more health conscious. The chance of you saying yes to a substance or activity which promises glowing skin and sexy abs are a million to one. Surrounded by several health fads are beneficial items which promote prolonged health, and are easy to incorporate into our everyday lives. Purified water is one of them.
Purified water is water that undergoes mechanical filtration in order to remove impurities and makes it suitable for use.
“Isn’t the water from the tap already purified?” According to a representative from National Water Commission, the water from the tap is filtered, however it is chlorinated.
Adding chlorine to the water prevents bacteria from thriving within it. The water has to travel far distances and can attain contamination during its journey. Commercially sold Purified Water is “Earth Pure”. Earth Pure means it only undergoes filtration and no addition of chemicals.
Your next question might be “What exactly makes Purified water pure?” Purified water is achieved by several methods of filtration. It starts off with single media filters which constitutes of carbon or sand. This absorbs impurities through physical/chemical processes. Single media filters will generally remove undesirable tastes, colors, and odors from water as well as such chemicals as hydrogen sulfide, radon, chlorine, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), pesticides, and benzene.
Drinking water filters will also remove lead and other chemicals transferred from plumbing systems to water. Filtration however does not remove mineral compounds from water. Now that you know all the processes and the elements removed to create Purified Water, let us talk about the health benefits.
1. Removes Chlorine
Chlorine acts as a disinfectant. This removes harmful bacteria and viruses which can cause illness and as severe as disease breakouts. However too much ingestion of chlorine over a period can cause a change in the pH of the blood and even low blood pressure. There is a relatively low concentration of chlorine in tap water; therefore, these effects will surface over a prolonged period.
2. No Microorganisms
The purification process of water removes all organic compounds, which includes the “dreaded bacteria”. No one likes the thought of ingesting tiny organisms, with the thought of them possibly surviving and living within our bodies. Most health conscious minds take extreme precautions as to what is ingested. If it poses a possible threat, why not eliminate it completely?
3. Saves Essential Minerals
Purified water saves the essential minerals such as Calcium, Magnesium and Potassium which are micronutrients needed by the body. These micro-nutrients help with bone and teeth development and play a key role in the immune system. A lack of these vitamins can have a profound impact on the body’s immune system and may cause illness and even diminished mental capacity.
4. Pipe Cleanliness
The pipelines transporting our water is questionable in terms of their cleanliness. Sediments can build up and settle within the pipes and are delivered right through your tap and straight into your cup for consumption. Purified water contains no form of sediments, which is one of the crucial points in achieving the ‘Purest Form of Water’ title. Even though you cannot see the dirt or rust the water picks up from traveling through the pipelines, it is there. Give your body less work by eliminating sediments with purified water.
