What a time to be alive. In a world where the new normal is wearing a protective mask in public to avoid being infected by the Coronavirus. We all know how severe this pandemic is, and we must take the necessary steps to keep ourselves and each other safe and healthy. While the protective masks do the work to keep pesky bacteria away, many persons may not be fully educated on the specifics of the face mask.
Buzzz Magazinewill be highlighting all things face masks; from the dos and don’ts to the different types of masks and any added information you need to know to stay protected.
The main types of protective face masks are the surgical masks, N95 respiratory masks and cloth masks. It is highly recommended to reserve the N95 and surgical masks for frontline workers. Persons are now making homemade cloth maks, and adding their personal touch with stylish fabrics and colours.
However, if you are not using the right materials, it defeats the purpose. If you opt to make a cloth mask at home, ensure that it is made up of multiple layers of breathable fabric and you fit in comfortably to your face. There have been instances where persons tie a handkerchief over the nose and mouth as a form of makeshift face mask.
Although this option is better than going out barefaced; a handkerchief does not provide the best protection, because of the lack of secure covering it offers. It is not correctly fitted to the face and any tiny gap leaves you at risk of inhaling particles from the air.
