With all of the demands, life throws at us, looking your best each time you walk out the front door can seem quite daunting. So how does that chic superwoman you can’t help but noticing as she confidently walks by does it? Well, the really chic woman on regular days doesn’t wake up to glam squad; chances are she just
knows and uses some simple beauty tips.
The process of looking effortlessly chic doesn’t have to be complicated especially considering that you’re already strapped for time. So I’ve come up with eight makeup and hair styling tips that can be easily incorporated into your daily routine to elevate your style.
Less is More-When it comes to makeup less is more….less about covering up your imperfections and more about highlighting and enhancing your best features. I believe it is our imperfections which make us unique.
Good Skin Care-Makeup that looks good starts with good skincare. Start with a good skincare regimen that involves a cleanser, toner and moisturiser with SPF protection if needed. Your older self will thank you for it.
The Right Match– A light foundation can conceal a myriad of skin imperfections. The next step in perfecting your makeup is to ensure that you have a foundation that correctly matches your skin tone. So when buying foundation, swatch it on your jawline in natural sunlight to see if you have the perfect match.
Use a light hand when applying foundation. I like to apply foundation in a circular motion with a buffing brush for a well-blended finish. Persons with flawless or almost flawless skin can use a tinted moisturiser. They can spot to conceal dark circles or spots after with a concealer similar to their skin tone using fingers. If you’re the person who needs more coverage, you can use a full coverage foundation. The trick to making your foundation look flawless is to apply in light layers. Remember to blend, blend, blend and when you are finished, blend some more.
Set foundation with a colourless translucent powder or with a powder one shade lighter than your foundation colour as powders tend to oxidise and become darker. You can also try the new oil-control foundations on the market which do not need to be set with a powder.
Define the Eyes
Never leave home without applying eyeliner, and mascara to define your eyes. After applying liner a makeup artist’s trick is to blend it using an eyeshadow brush to make the line looks less severe and to fill in any gaps, repeat for a bolder look. For a more interesting exotic style, a simple cat eye is the ultimate chic eye look.
