Relationship…what women look for?

relationships Relationship...what women look for?

Story by Nicola Cunningham

For those who say that relationships are easy they have either been dropped on their heads as babies, come from another planet or they are blatantly lying. Relationships at times can feel like a landmine that you carefully have to navigate around and just when you think that you got a handle on it, you can accidently make a bad step and all your hard work just blows up in your face. Because it can be so tricky, some choose to set boundaries from the beginning while others come to the table with a checklist of things they demand be present before they take that giant leap forward.

Having said all of that we know that women are a special species and for the most part when we sit down at the relationship table we not only intend to eat but will set table but also break out the fancy silverware because once we are over the game playing, we come correct. Whether they are sweet sixteen or serene sixty, women do for the most part know what they want and need from their relationships.

BUZZZ Magazine sat down with a select group of professional women who were able to chime in and express their basic desires as well as higher order needs when it comes to trading ‘Mr. Right Now’ for ‘Mr. Right’. While everyone can acknowledge that no individual is ever perfect, there have to be some set standards to work with plus certain qualities they should posses in order to even qualify to get a call back, a first date or even share the same covid-free free air.

The following are the ladies take on what they expect from their partners in a relationship plus what ultimately are their wants, desires and needs.

Dorothy Duncan

Not one for the games, Dorothy knows exactly what she wants and is not settling for anyone unless they come correct. For her, it is not about a man who can talk a good game, but one who is cognizant that ‘love’ is a verb and therefore it requires action that backs up the speech. “My expectations are trust, respect, love, honesty, protection and communication. I would love for my partner to be open about his feelings and his expectation of me.

I don’t read minds and I don’t want to guess what an issue is. I expect my partner to confide in me and see me as his equal.” And when it comes to her wants, she is crystal clear.”I want someone who is sensitive, empathetic and supportive in every aspect. A man who is in tune with my feelings as I am to his. What I need is a reliable and dependable partner who offers financial plus emotional and mental stability. I don’t want an egotistical man.”

Simone McFarlane

When it comes to picking a mate, Simone is all about letting a man know from jump that she has not time for any tomfoolery because her heart is not to be messed with. “I expect honesty and loyalty. I think it is important that they are open and honest in terms of where they are at emotionally. I hope he is confident enough to share with me what his love language is. I also expect a healthy attachment. I know at times we expect happiness from our partner so we expect them to do all that they really cannot but at this stage we should know that we cannot seek happiness in another person.”

At the end of the day she emphasized, what matters if where you see yourself and your partner heading as your goals in life should be common ones that

do not conflict or it is going to be for a bumpy ride. “Me personally, I desire friendship from my partner. We must be able to laugh and run joke and just be ourselves. I really like that idea very much. I also need someone who is very responsible and great with finances. His goals should align with mine.”
