Married for 36 years and together for 40, Danya & Richard Ho are proof that the best love is ‘friendship set on fire.’ They are still working on having a “You before me” kind of love. Danya an entrepreneur and former stay-at-home mom and Richie, a General Practitioner are quick to share that a healthy love doesn’t mean there are no challenges.Good love requires forgiveness and a bigger dose of forgetfulness. No love is perfect. Hurt and disappointments will come. Danya & Richie shared the power of forgiving and forgetting. Forgetting is not pretending the hurt never took place, but truly releasing the grief. There is danger in ruminating on how your partner has wronged you and in always seeking to make them pay. To help the forgiveness process, Mr. & Mrs. Ho have learnt to apologize when wrong and to try and truly understand each other’s point of view.
Speak your lover’s Love language. 6 miscarriages. Reflecting on these experiences, they share honestly that it was extremely difficult on their marriage. Aside from the grief of losing their babies, they were not on the same wavelength. Danya needed her husband to offer emotional support and to feel the grief with her. Richie offered support from a medical and logical place; drawing on information about miscarriages in his effort to ease his wife’s distress.
