The honeymoon was the desert and with insatiable sweet tooth, I ate ravishingly.

As a younger man, I once asked a woman, what did she enjoy more, her wedding or the honeymoon? She was amazed at my question, possibly stunned and thrown off due to my age. She responded, “one is the main course and the other is desert, which do you think, you would enjoy more”?

Suffice to say, I was puzzled and for the next couple weeks, I pondered on her metaphors trying to obtain a meaning, but was at a loss. Fast forward fifteen years, and I have finally understood what she meant.

There are some significant days and moments in your lives that you will remember forever. The day you were born, graduated, lost your virginity, baptised – for the religious minded – and the day you got married, especially for the ladies.

It’s funny, although I had a superb wedding – intimate and fun – to signify the start of the rest of my life with my true love, the week that followed was much more enjoyable to me. Please, do not tell her I said so, but it’s true! Hence my wedding day was the main course, but the honeymoon was the desert and with insatiable sweet tooth, I ate ravishingly and it was oh, so scrumptious.

To have a special honeymoon, a special person is firstly needed – my wife – and a location that rivals paradise, hence Jamaica- the land of wood and water. But there are some ingredients that you must have to ensure the honey on the moon is not substandard but very sweet.
