I Am Nesta Carter

Sitting in the cool air-conditioned office of Buzzz Magazine and flanked by his business manager Jerome Dixon as well as marketing agent Claire Stone, Nesta Carter OD seems confident as well as indestructible. His demeanor further makes him look humble and yet complete as well as indomitable all at the same time.

Born in the beautiful parish of Manchester, Nesta became interested in track and field because of the encouragement of family members and close friends. He first started running for his church during their annual church sports meet. Later on, he started competing for his school on the track on a more serious level. His exploits in school competition made room for him to represent his country Jamaica on an international level.

Nesta started seriously competing internationally since 2004 by going up against some of the biggest names on the track and has never looked back since. Big guns like his Jamaican teammates Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, Asafa Powell, as well as American greats such as Tyson Gay and Justin Gatlin, only helped to fuel his passion to achieve his goal of becoming the best runner of his time.

Nesta was not born great and yet over the years he carved out greatness through hard work and dedication on the track. Since gaining international and local attention in the sport, many hail him as the “Hidden Jewel of Jamaica and the Caribbean.” He became the first Jamaican athlete to be featured on Whistle Sports. His hard work also helped him receive endorsement from Nike. His Face Book, Twitter and Instagram accounts has a bold, “I am Nesta Carter” stamped on them, which is getting the word out to the world about who he is.
