“When the music hits you feel no pain” is a perfect sentiment to describe the state of existence that overwhelms you when you listen to the album “Hello Africa” by Chezidek. Chezidek, whose real name is Desbert Johnson, produced the album with the support of his label Tads Records. The album, which is his ninth studio release, pays homage the ancestry of black culture and history and the richness of lineage that is becomingly increasingly lost in the modern society.

As an African man, maintaining a connection to his roots and origins is important in understanding and valuing who we are as a people. It is in appreciating this value and sense of presence that Chezidek speaks out in his music against the various types of oppression and other injustices, discrimination and biases that black people have become subject to. The album seeks to empower and inspire black people to embrace and reconnect with their roots.

The album focuses heavily on Afro roots awareness which provides the undertone for the entire album and resonates personally for the artiste. Featuring thirteen songs, all written, composed and produced my Desbert himself, the album offers no features, leaving you to be entranced in the musical melodies and deep cultural light being illuminated one track after the other.

The album features singles such as “Because I’m Black”, “Never runaway from Jah”, “No Guns” and the title track “Hello Africa”.

The album is available on all streaming and music platforms and is a great addition to your reggae music collection.
