Album Review

Love, Herb and Reggae

Love Herb and Reggae is a captivating musical display of rhythm and reggae soul. Its strong instrumental melodies are crucial elements to this album’s sensual and soulful allure. The relaxed vibe and energy is complimented by the album’s rootsy and organic tone.

The simplicity of the rhythm and its contemporary feel intensify the vocals creating somewhat of a celestial aura. The lyrics and music is set deep within the culture of reggae as even the track titles and their messages speak to the reggae culture and its dominant supporters.

Like its name suggests, the musical content of the album focuses on its three mentioned areas. The 14 track
album, for those with a great appreciation for authentic reggae music, is a wonderful piece of art tool for connecting with the culture of reggae. For those who appreciate music but may not be devout reggae supporters, you will appreciate this album for its musical simplicities, swaying melodies and display of subtle but felt vocals.

The continuous bliss of easy going reggae music and vocals leaves you feeling cool and engaged. For the most part the melodies and rhythm follow the same trend from track to track with slight variations from time to time, but the lyrics and vocal variety keeps you engaged without feeling that there is too much monotony in the music itself. There is however one acoustic track, which is my favourite on the album. It is quite a refreshing difference to the rest of the material on the album. The album in its entirety is a great listen and appropriate for creating a soothing cultural ambience.
