The Village Crook

Every once in a while, a book comes along that makes you just want to curl up in bed with a bar of chocolate, mug of cocoa and just lose yourself within its pages.‘The Village Crook’ is one such book.

Delightfully engaging from cover to cover, ‘The VillageCrook” was a joy to devour, so much so that at times I forgot all about reviewing and just had fun laughing at the characters that are and relatable with so many people you come across in your lifetime.

A collection of short stories set in rural Jamaica in an era when one did not need burglar bars in their homes; people shared excess food with their neighbours; food came from farm to table with no additives or preservatives; there were no cell phones, iPods or social media; people were kind and polite and courteous;children actually listened to their teachers and parents and hard work was lauded, not jeered. In other words, a time when life in Jamaica was simpler but way sweeter.
