We were first introduced to the soulful vocal serenity and melodious tone of Lila Ike back in 2017 when she burst onto the scene with the release of “Biggest Fan”; an ode to her mother. Three years later, the transformative and reflective reggae crooner is gushing with excitement over the May 15th release of her debut album entitled “The ExPerience”.
The Seven track EP has been a project of love for the reggae songstress for some time now and includes some of her recent popular hits such as “I spy” and “Where I’m coming from”.
Since bursting onto the scene, Lila Ike has commanded quite a following with her soothing sound, connective lyrics and the beauty of her style and alluring presence. She is among a new wave of young and empowered female artists who have been taking the industry by storm and establishing her space as a force to be reckoned with in the world of reggae music. From the cool hills of Manchester, her passion for music was always innate, even as she explored other professional avenues. However, as faith would have it, her challenges and setbacks positioned her on the path towards living her true passion; music.
With quite a “buzzz” surrounding the young vocalist, she has been featured and recognized widely in music for the incredible talent that she is; one of which was her performance with Protoje at Reggae Sumfest. In 2019, she graced the cover of Buzzz Caribbean Lifestyle Magazine alongside labelmates Sevana and Naomi Cowan as the “Rubies of Reggae” where she became personal and insightful about her life before music and the fantastic journey her career as created.
Now with the release of her album, Lila is an artist to watch as she shares the authenticity of her craft in the personal, organic and beautiful delivery of her signature vibrato. Her superstardom is sure to elevate her on the international scene as Jamaica’s next global music icon.
The album “The ExPerience” is just that, an experience of intimate and vulnerable conversation through a musical mixture of dancehall, hip hop, reggae and contemporary soul. With an impressive cadre of producers, artists and musicians such as Protoje, Phillip “Winta” James, Kasadie “Caspa” Jones and Alfred Simpson among a host of others involved in its creation; the quality of the album and its ability for success goes without question.
The album which also includes singles “Solitude” and “Stars Align” is a joint collaboration between her new label, RCA Records, Protoje’s In.Digg.Nation Collective and Six Course Records.
