Jamaica Youth for Christ recently premiered it’s third full length Jamaican Gospel Movie entitled “Just Another Friday 2”, the sequel to the internationally acclaimed and award-winning first
installment, Just Another Friday. The sequel is the fourth overall full length Jamaican Gospel movie produced by Judith Falloon- Reid-Brown and Michael Brown with partners BarriVision Films. Among their repertoire of films are, “The Gift Everlasting” and “70 x seven”.
The film conveys important messages encapsulated in the power of faith. Throughout the film, distinct illustrations are shown where one’s faith can either be tested or broken, leaving us with feelings of doubt, fear, anger and hopelessness. It is often said that the Lord never gives us more than we can bear, and the characters are put through situations which test the strength of their faith. They find themselves struggling to cope with emotional turmoil caused by the death of Leon; an incident which has created a ripple effect of the change. The film’s message echoes the importance of having faith and trusting God and always believing that he will guide and protect you through any burden, situation or challenge.
Set in the garrisons of the inner city, Just another Friday 2, picks up where the first installment concluded; with Leon’s death. The protagonist of the film, John, is still devastated by the death of his best friend Leon, an incident which forced him to denounce his criminal ways and give his life to the Lord. This new-found faith inspired John to open an outreach centre where he provides employment, guidance and meal support to the residents of the garrison, especially the young men engaged in criminal activities, as he once was.
