The road can be a very dangerous place. Driving on Jamaica’s roadways requires a focus and skill that goes far beyond manoeuvring your own vehicle, but also takes into consideration other road users and their driving practices. In March 2019, it was reported that the number of road fatalities had hit the 100 mark, which was an increase from the previous year within the same period. So this had me thinking, what can we do to remain safe on the roads?
There are many contributing factors that result in incidents on the road and each motorist has their own negative experiences. However, there are commonalities that exist across the board. Even if you are a newly licensed motorist or an experienced driver, the fact still remains that everyone at some point will have a negative road experience; whether a near collision, a simple fender-bender or a serious accident, as a result of quite a few possibilities.
