Many of us spend precious time pursuing goals which never seem to materialize. To address this situation effectively, there are some personal –perhaps difficult- decisions that you will need to make, in order to change the cycle andit starts with a willingness to understand what it means to re-invent yourself.

Self reinvention involves making or thinking of something new, or altering your way of achieving an aim.Now don’t get me wrong, I am in no way advocating a defeatist approach to life, rather I suggest that more careful assessments be made concerning whether you are actually on the road to achieving your desired place of being.

Do not be afraid to make a total overhaul of your plans for the New Year.“We need to work smarter, not necessarily harder to effectively reach our goals” says Businessman, William Trowers, who constantly reminds his workers to learn something new each day. “Change is not chance, it’s a choice”.

Correspondingly, Human Resource Consultant, Dr. VivieneVassall, advises that one has to have the desire to change. “The drive has to come from within”. She feels that though training and development is a major part of success, the individual’s will to succeed plays a great part in the final analysis.

Consider honestly what your priorities are, versus what they should be, not just for yourself, but for the people whose lives you impact such as your children, co-workers or spouse, then devise a strategy to ensure that your actions correspond with what you ought to be doing, until it becomes habitual; proper time management, financial discipline, healthy eating, sexual and reproductive responsible behavior, inter alia. How many of us embark on shopping escapades without a list? Or hoard books, clothes and gadgets for years without using them? Banish the habit, with force! The more unnecessary things you have, the more you have to clean, repair and maintain them, adding stress and leaving no room for creative thought.
