YOGA: A Chance to Meet Yourself

YOGA: A Chance to Meet Yourself

As more and more people embrace the idea of having a better quality of life, yoga has become increasingly popular over the last couple of decades. It’s, therefore, no wonder you now have so many different forms, types and styles of yoga to choose from thanks to, a plethora of blogs, vlogs and what not showing ‘yogis’ in all forms of glorious poses that will never be attained by the average human being. The thing is though, this all leaves you feeling confused and overwhelmed, which is contrary to the very purpose and essence of yoga.
YOGA: A Chance to Meet YourselfYoga is not about how complicated your poses and posture can be. It’s a way of life. A journey to self- awareness and acceptance. A chance to meet yourself. And because it’s a way of life and not a fad, it means that some days the stars align and you have a perfect day; some days, not so much – but that’s ok. In your yoga practice, there will be that day where you’ll ease into a perfect bakasana (crow pose), while another day will probably see you falling forward unto your face. Does that make you a bad yogi? Absolutely not! There is no perfect one-size-fits-all pose.

The perfect pose for you is the one that your body can get into on any given day. Yoga is a very personal journey that offers a chance to learn how to live your life with mindfulness, with awareness, teaching you how to become in tune with the very essence of yourself. It holds up a big mirror and forces you to take an honest look. If you like what you see, it helps you to nurture that. If you’re not thrilled with who looks back at you, yoga will help you change that. Yoga asanas or poses are controlled means of exposing yourself to a difficult situation. They are meant to challenge you. They offer practice at mastering yourself under stressful situations and like life, some days you get it, some days you don’t.
