Color is everything and RED is perhaps the most vibrant, impactful and energetic colour. It has been called the most memorable colour on the planet. Red is a primary colour and is best used in small doses when decorating. You do not want to go overboard with red. There’s no need to be afraid of the daring color red…it’s all about how you use it. Red actually mixes well with almost every other colour scheme. So if you are craving a little more red in your life, here are some ideas:

A red front door

Nothing says welcome home like a glossy red front door. This flamboyant entrance conveys a feeling of excitement and joy and is welcoming and inviting to guests entering your home. Your red front door will be sure to draw attention and will provoke a strong response and is even said to bring good luck.

Accent wall

Red is an intense color, so think twice before painting an entire room this colour. Rich red walls are certainly beautiful, but try using the colour on a carefully chosen focal wall. There are many shades of red to choose from depending on the mood you are trying to evoke. Warmer, orangey reds stimulate the senses while cooler, burgundy red is a touch calmer and serene. Your accent wall will serve as bold backdrop for paintings, photographs and collectibles. Red is said to stimulate the appetite and so is a perfect choice for the kitchen and/or dining room. Paint is not the only option for an accent wall. Consider an explosion of red tiles on a wall, wall paper or a gigantic floor to ceiling painting.

Pillows, throws and decorative items

Placing pops of colour in a minimalist styled interior will add a complimentary contrast. It’s the equivalent of a coat of bright red lipstick. It simply lifts the appearance of the room. Try adding a red pillow or throw to a neutral sofa to give a touch of excitement and punch to a room. A red lamp artfully placed in a corner adds drama to the space. Consider using red vases and decorative pieces to punch up a room. Add sprinkles of the colour around the room.

Accent Furniture

A red chair explodes when placed in a monochromatic room. It makes a bold and dynamic statement and adds the touch of magnificence and sophistication to the room. There are other pieces of furniture that will add that ‘wow’ factor. A rich red dresser in a neutral toned bedroom will add energy and add spice to the boudoir. Consider red ottomans in the living room or a red bookshelf.

Rugs

A bold patterned or solid red rug is the finishing touch to a room. A red rug softens the hard wood or tile flooring and its vibrancy anchors a space giving a unique character and most definitely makes a statement.
It adds warmth and defines the space making for a fabulous room. Be sure that your rug is the right scale for your room.
