Shoe Craze with Simone Clarke-Cooper

Shoe Craze with Simone Clarke-Cooper Shoe Craze with Simone Clarke-Cooper

Many say ‘shoes are the way to a girl’s heart’. What explains this shoe craze? We might never know. One thing we know is the fact that TV Host Simone Clarke-Cooper is a shoe fanatic. We’ve heard her express her love for her ‘soles’ and we’ve seen a few from her stunning collection.

Gena-Marie Waugh caught up with Simone to have the ‘shoes talk’ and from the beginning, it was clear that Simone is the perfect candidate for this feature:

“Well I don’t talk about shoes; I just let my shoes do the talking.”

It’s common for women to have a fashion weakness whether it is clothes, handbags, accessories or make-up. The concept of retail therapy is very real.

But, why shoes?
Simone bared no hesitation in confessing her love for shoes. In fact she admits its borderline obsessive.
“I don’t know- it’s my drug, my alcohol. There’s something about shoes that can really make a statement and for me it’s my exclamation mark.”

It’s true that wearing the right type of footwear can really accentuate your outfit – flats, heels, platforms, wedges, and boots; buckled, laced or peep toe.

What’s your style?
“In my younger years I was really about style and flair, now I still love those elements but I appreciate comfort.”

Simone admits that her collection is very versatile, ranging from stilettos to flip flops.

“More often than not I’m in heels because of work but on the weekend, I’m most likely in flats- usually when people meet me on the weekends they ask where is the rest of you.”

“I like open toe more than closed toe; I like when my toes can breathe, I’m not big on sneakers.”

“I gravitate to leather: leather handbags, leather shoes, leather belts and I like to coordinate my outfit so up until recently most of my shoes were brown but I’ve stepped out of that box and into more bold colours that put a pop on what I wear.”

Any favourite designers?
“I’m a Jessica Simpson girl and I like Nine West for their comfort and durability; I like Qupid and for flats- me too”

“For local designers I really love my Bridget Sandals and Reece’s Pieces.”

Do you shop on-line?
“Typically no; firstly, I would be broke. You gotta check yourself if you know you have a habit. I try not to go that route because I will literally go online and when I look in the basket there’d be like 20 pair of shoes.” Also I like to try on shoes, walk up and down in them make sure they’re comfortable and look in the mirror.”

When does one really know they have a Shoe Craze?
We asked Simone to stop by our office with a few of her prized possessions; it was no surprise when she showed up with a ‘shoecase’ (suitcase filled with shoes).

Six (6) Pairs of shoes a Woman Must have

1. Pumps Nothing adds professionalism, chic or a hint of sexy to an outfit than a pair of pumps. Suede, patent, peep toe- the options are endless.

2. Flat Closed Shoe For long walks and standing, don’t compromise professionalism by being too casual. Flats are great when dealing with an injury too.

3. Heeled Sandals Release your toes and add trend and elegance to your outfit. Heeled Sandals are great for just about any occasion, giving a softer look than pumps.

4. Flat Sandals Perfect for shopping or running other errands, flat sandals are usually more comfortable than their heeled counterparts.
