When Is Casual Too Casual in the Workplace?

too-casual-for-workplace

Business casual is the term used to describe a merging of business attire and casual wear. Now some persons will argue there is no such thing as business casual and some will have hard and fast rules, like no jeans, athletic wear, sandals or peep toed shoes.

In the work place the lines between business casual and too casual are being blurred. Without a doubt there are inappropriate garments for work, for e.g., sheer tops that show the bra, ultra-low rise pants, destress jeans, shorts and miniskirts. Today, managers are faced with the task of monitoring their employees’ attire diligently, because of the constant breach of dress code rules.

This new shift in business casual is due partly to the social trend of leaving work on a Friday evening to go out for drinks with friends, however, there are the few who clearly forget they have to go to work before their Friday Night begins!

Buzzz Magazine partnered with Lee’s Fifth Avenue and explored through their vast fashion sense how to be trendy, AND appropriately dressed in the workplace.
