Travel Tips for Young Jetsetters

Everyone loves to travel; the adventure and mystery of immersing yourself in a rich and diverse culture excites the senses and unearths an intense desire to discover and explore. As vital as travelling is for us as adults to experience the world so, too should young children be cultured and given the opportunity to interact in a global community. Many share a similar view and capitalise on every opportunity to orient their offspring to the world; whether through accompanied travel or by allowing their able kids to globe trot alone to visit family, go off to camp or any other concocted reason to send your children away.

We love the idea of young jetsetters building their cultural awareness. A young child travelling alone however, can create quite an unsettling fear, especially for the parents. So to keep everyone at ease, we have put together a few Do’s and DON’Ts for your young jetsetter as they take on the world.

Dos

• Encourage and let them know that this is an
  adventure and they need not be fearful or
  nervous
• Ensure the child is mature enough to travel alone
• Be friendly and make friends with kids on a
  similar experience
• Brief the child on what to expect throughout
  every stage of the journey
• Teach kids how to be respectful and listen to the
  flight crew

Donts

• Wander off alone or without informing someone of where you are going.
• Go anywhere with anyone that you are not familiar with.
• Seek assistance from strangers no matter how nice they may seem.
• Leave luggage or personal items unattended.
