Are you a busy mom overflowing with love for your kids, but you are finding it hard to balance the two jobs? Do you feel guilty because you have to leave childcare in the hands of others?

It is perfectly normal to feel guilt, but in today’s world, having a career is not all that bad. In fact, a working mom can be an inspiration to her sons and daughters, raising happy and successful children.

Of course, a career plus motherhood is challenging and many times it is difficult to juggle the two roles. You desire a viable, successful career but you also crave being the best mom ever. You want to be at piano recitals, soccer games, ballet performances and all the other milestones in your child’s life but occasionally, with a demanding job, its just not all possible. The reality of parenthood is exhausting and daunting.

Whether you are single, married, divorced or widowed, rearing children is hard work!
Who says that children of working moms are more deprived than children with a stay-at-home mom? Its all nonsense. Rest assured that with good parenting skills, working moms can rear happy, thriving, intelligent and well-adjusted children.

Living Guilt-free

The working mom will always have to make trade-offs and sacrifices. Chances are that you are disheartened and dismayed at the prospect of leaving your children in the hands of someone else, especially if they are young. You do not have to feel this way.

Embrace your limitations and refocus your energy on ensuring that your children know that they are loved. Kids that feel and know that they are loved, are happy.

There is no time for self-reproach. Instead, make the time you do have count – quality vs quantity. So, instead of agonising about how few minutes you spend with your kids, think about how best to utilise this time in making them feel loved, and in making unforgettable memories.

Creating memories

Spending quality time with your kids create lifelong remembrances. Here are some tips to help you generate lasting memories.

1. Make exercise a family affair

Physical exercise is good for all ages. After a long day at work, it is a super stress buster. It is also fantastic for kids. Take them outside and go for a walk. Cycle together, play soccer, cricket, or basketball, which are also pleasurable activities. Move together, have fun, be happy!

2. Do chores together

While this might not seem enjoyable, it’s an occasion to get the kids involved while assisting you at the same time. It could be as simple as helping to cook dinner or washing dishes. Yet, it provides a perfect chance to chat and catch up on your children’s lives.

3. Run weekend errands together

As you commute from place to place, take the kids with you. Perhaps its banking, supermarket shopping or purchasing gardening supplies; it’s a perfect opportunity for bonding and teaching them long-term life lessons.
