Sorrel is most sought after in Jamaica during the Christmas season, but make ye way for this lord of the vegetable vine, indeed all hail king cucumber! And here’s the reason why:

1. Cucumbers are great for removing unsightly cellulites from your skin.

The phytochemical in cucumbers cause the collagen in your skin to tighten and reduces the visibility of cellulite and wrinkles.

They are ninety five percent water and as such, have excellent hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties. They contain Vitamin E, natural fats, and antioxidants, which when applied to puffy eyes, inflamed or dry parts of the skin, can produce remarkably therapeutic effects.

A hormone needed by the pancreas to produce insulin is also present in cucumbers, which makes it a good snack for diabetic patients. Sterols, also found in cucumbers are excellent for keeping cholesterol levels in check and the potassium, magnesium and fibre help to control your blood pressure levels. Further, silica is found in cucumbers, which promotes joint health.

So for this Christmas season, add cucumbers to your grocery list, it has tremendous properties which awards it a space in the medicine cabinet, the cleaning closet, your garden and the kitchen.
