So, you wish to begin the journey to a thinner, healthier, and fitter you. Congratulations! I have always been reminded that the hardest part is starting, so one step down! Weight loss can be a real challenge for all of us who have been more than 20 pounds overweight and that’s okay. I am here to give you some tips and tricks to kick start your weight loss and help you stay on the wagon.
Measure yourself the same time every time
It is important to select a time of day that is best for you to take your measurements as it helps keep a consistent record with the same variables every time. For example, I prefer to measure my body with a tape measure and scale in the morning after I have used the bathroom. It will offer the most neutral measurement of the body
The scale can lie!
What I mean by this is, sometimes you may feel discouraged as you don’t see the numbers drop on the scale after some time. Therefore, it is important to use a tape measure and see if you are shrinking in inches or see how your clothes fits. This is because muscle is actually heavier than fat. If you have noticed, you can lift more weights or exercises are getting easier; you may have built some muscle mass in your weight loss journey
Stay hydrated!
Our bodies are made up of water, it can’t function properly without it staying hydrated; especially when you want to lose weight. It is said to be best to drink water as you wake up, 30 minutes before a meal and whenever you feel hunger. It helps to fight cravings and flush the body of excess toxins/waste and curb cravings. By sticking to water and cutting down on sodas or other sugar added drinks your body is allowed to operate at its very best.
Weight Loss is more about what you eat and less about gym!
Many persons dedicate hours in the gym and neglect the nutrition needed to sustain the gains from their workout. The body spends more time eating than exercising and if the food eaten doesn’t support the workouts eventually you may find that weight loss has halted, or you are unable to push as hard as you would like when you are working out. Surprisingly, there are persons who have never stepped foot in a gym or done any exercises and have seen great weight loss. By just changing their diet and cutting out foods that their body can’t use such as breads, pastas, dairy, salty and highly sugared foods and incorporate more protein, vegetables, and fresh fruits in their diet
Nobody is perfect
In my research into weight loss, I have seen where personal coaches have said its okay to have a treat occasionally; what’s important is that you get back on schedule and don’t allow your self to fall victim to bad habits. You might find yourself overindulging due to strong cravings and that’s okay because you are human, just make sure the next meal is healthy and you get back on track as if you never had the treat. Don’t feel guilty and defeated, just get yourself focused on the goal again and work a little bit harder to not let those cravings get the best of you. I am so sure these tips are a great way to lose the weight! It is within your reach. Just focus on the goals you set, and you are well on your way and remember slow and steady wins the race; Good Luck!!
