As we know COVID-19 has forced the world to take a step back or completely halt our daily and weekly activities. Based on your age and health status, you may see yourself staying at home and working. This may lead to putting less time into you and getting in some exercise.

We need to make a change and slowly get back into the groove of getting our mind and bodies back in sync, with simple moves that will make a difference in the long run and takes only 15 – 30 minutes of your day. The most effective thing would be to get your hands on some without videos that are free on YouTube or buy a workout video like P90X. This is a great option but can be intense for those with limitations. Here I will give you a few moves that are low impact and can gradually help increase the intensity and duration of your exercise.

AB EXERCISE

Your abdominal muscles are your most important muscles, as your core strengthens your back and strong backs ache less, increases range of motion, and allow for other exercises to be done. Always start with stretching, slowly bend forward, back, and the sides with intentional moves that wake up the muscles for 30 seconds to a 1 minute. Then with your arms extended to the sides twist from left to right and then twist downward with the right hand to left foot and left hand to the right foot 10 times. This must be done with ab muscles tightened to engage the muscles in the movement.

LEG EXERCISE

Your legs help you to get around. With leg swings you increase your range of motion and engage your hip flexors to make getting up or sitting down a bit easier. Place your hands on a table or a wall and give yourself enough space allowing you to swing your leg left to right between you and the wall. These swings can be done 10 times per leg, then turn to the side and brace one hand on the wall and swing your leg in front of you for 10 times per leg. Over time you will notice it gets easier to lift your leg and you get higher as time goes by.
