Human Vaccine Trial begins for Ebola

60 healthy volunteers will be given the Ebola vaccine in a case study in Oxford, England, it is hoped that if the trials are successful, it will be used to immunise health workers in the West African region suffering from the virus.

The ‘good’ news of the vaccine precedes that from the United States government that they will send 3,000 troops to Africa to build treatment clinics and train health personnel on how to stop the halt of the disease.

The rush to implement the vaccine came about as a result of successful monkey trials earlier in September. Vaccines would normally go through years of strenuous testing to ensure that the side effects are low and that it truly destroys the virus, but with an official death toll approaching 2,500 people in West Africa, the vaccine has been hurried into production.
