He teases her and she pretends not to like it. She fixes his clothes and he pretends not to enjoy her fussing over him. Such is the love that exudes from these two individuals, who know each other better than they do the backs of their own hands.
Such is their love that after 43 years, they can complete each other sentences and even dress each other, as they know what the other likes and dislikes and are always mindful to do something nice that the other will appreciate daily.
Meet Vincent and Novelette Clarke, the parents of media personality Simone Clarke-Cooper. This effervescent and dynamic duo, does not have to go around declaring their Christianity from the rooftops. Instead, their spiritual light shines, so bright that you not only have to wear shades when you bask in the inner joy they share for the Lord, but the abundance of love and devotion they share for each other.
This love story is not a fairy tale romance crafted from the passages of a Han Christian Anderson script, but a real Jamaican couple who grew together in Christ and decided that they not only wanted to raise a family but help to heal a nation.
BUZZZ Magazine sat down with the Clarkes at their Shortwood Road home, recently to find out exactly how they have managed to avoid the pitfalls that have befallen, so many other married couples, and how their bond have been strengthened, instead of being weakened by the passage of time.
By their sharing, we hope to shed some light that can possibly help others discover some of the tenets of a happy and healthy marriage.
Mr. Clarke shared that the first half of their union centred around the children and establishing a solid foundation for their growth and development. “Children are a blessing but if you are not totally ready for the responsibility, leave them alone.”
