Let us start with tales from up north. In the United States, there are some places where anything goes such as having a marriage by proxy. Yes, you guessed it! Someone can stand in for a bride or groom because, for whatever reason, they cannot be present at their own wedding. This works well for members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Not all states allow it, but in the great state of Montana you can even have double-proxy weddings where NEITHER the bride nor groom has to show up. One wonders if you still get to play ‘Here Comes the Bride’ on the piano.
Hartford, Connecticut may be the pinnacle of propriety if you consider that you could be jailed for publicly kissing your wife on a Sunday. In Kentucky, marrying the same man four times is illegal, and apparently so is common sense if you keep flogging that dead horse. Then, in the town of Truro, Massachusetts, grooms get trigger happy and prove their manhood prior to marriage by hunting and killing either six blackbirds or three crows. I guess those birds of a feather do die together.
