The Soothing Sounds of Romance

“Set the night to music”, Roberta Flack and Maxi Priest sang in 1991. In this hit, these two artistes combined sensual vocals with soothing beats as they described how they would create their own music for an enjoyable night of passion, excitement and romantic bliss. And they do not lie! Music is a very powerful tool.

It stirs emotions from deep within that moves us to action. Just think of that Air Supply song that makes you go “Wow what a beautiful tune It sounds so good.” Or that Marvin Gaye song that makes you feel that rush of passion to the point that you call up your lover and say “Let’s get it on”.

Call me crazy but I am a music junky. Recently I have been listening some of my archived music. It is a variety of hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s that makes me feel so nostalgic and filled with emotions. I mean why did I listen to that song? Now all I can think of is making passionate love to my wife!

I am usually a romantic guy. And I have used music to my advantage several times to set the romantic mood. Romance is all about the intimate connection between two individuals and I believe that the right song at the right time can fuel a romantic spark which leads to a romantic fire.

It happens so simple and spontaneous – just chilling out cooking in the kitchen with ‘wifey’ whilst listening a YouTube playlist. Then that song comes on, that song by Shanice, ‘Saving Forever’ where she sings so sweetly “you are the only one I’ll ever give forever too”. I get weak. I am not going be macho now, just honest. So I move towards ‘baby girl’, place my hands around her from behind and whisper in her ear, “I love you”.
