Flow Introduces Advanced Video Service Locally

Flow

Columbus Communications Jamaica Limited, parent company of FLOW, which presented end-to-end solutions in internet and cable applications, has now introduced yet another innovative utility to customers. Released on March 15, 2015 the Advanced Video Service (AVS) is an attractive venture for customers who have purchased cable packages from the company and who wish to upgrade; being in command of cable in its entirety.

While the concept of AVS is not new to the world population, the technology is a step up from high-definition cable viewing in Jamaica. As more persons become aware of the capabilities of live TV via the internet, the greater the need for new and improved technology to support similar capabilities of video on demand. This is not to be confused with the 1990s concept of TiVo which integrated digital video recording (DVR) services into the set-top boxes of satellite and cable providers.

Advanced Video Service has similar features to FLOW’s Watch High Definition base packages, but integrates a fairly new cloud service, reducing the need to purchase the more expensive high definition box. “Most households have anecdotally, included at least one flat screen or high definition television and have sacrificed to purchase that technology,” expressed Yanique Forbes-Patrick, Marketing Manager with Flow.
