Stacy-Ann Smith - Time does not heal cover

Buzzz Magazine recently caught up with TV Show host, trained journalist, communication and public relations specialist, Stacy-Ann Smith, where she shared with us a bit about her journey to writing her first book.

A Kingston native, Stacy-Ann balances life as a mom, corporate PR manager, entrepreneur for her media and production business, DanRak Productions and her active involvement at church. In this short chat with Smith, we shine the spotlight on her memoir, Time Does Not Heal.

Q. Who is Stacy-Ann Smith, and did you always want to write a book?

A. Loyal, hardworking, enterprising, ambitious, faithful, loving and strong are some of the adjectives I would use to describe myself. Depending on who you ask, you may also hear funny, stush and ‘life of the party’. I’m a lover of the spoken and written word, with an appreciation of the arts and most things creative. My greatest blessings are my son and daughter and I am grateful for my family.

Writing is my superpower. I say this with all humility, acknowledging that it’s a gift from God for which I am eternally grateful. I have been writing stories since high school, dreaming
of one day publishing great works of fiction. Even now I have a collection of short stories that I hope to publish next, but I felt this message of the importance of healing was most needed at this time. Writing ‘Time Does Not Heal’ is part of fulfilling my God-given purpose. As a woman of promise, I believe in pursuing purpose and walking in the path that God has laid out for me.

Q. When did you decide to write this book; why now and how long did it take you to complete?. When did you decide to write this book; why now and how long did it take you to complete?

A. At one of the lowest points of my life, heartbroken from a failed marriage, struggling to cope with the death of my beloved father, I realized that there was purpose in my pain, and that my story would help someone else navigate their difficult space. I started to write

“Time Does Not Heal” at the height of the pandemic when it became clear that our mental and emotional well-being was just as much under attack as our physical health. This is in addition to the effects of trauma that most people carry around on a daily basis. I felt that it was important to add my voice to the growing call for greater focus on this aspect of life. Making the decision to share so openly was not easy. Who wants to be vulnerable in front of the whole world? But once I settled on the fact that this was the right thing to do, the rest was easy. The writing process was completed within a few months.

Q. Share with readers a snapshot of what your book Time Does Not Heal is about?

A. Time Does Not Heal, is a message-driven memoir that challenges the thinking that by itself, time can heal all wounds. In the book, I transparently share some of the most difficult periods of my life, some of the circumstances that led to my spiral; poor decisions I made that contributed to my own pain; and how I was able to overcome them on the road to wholeness.

Time Does Not Heal is available for purchase at StacyannSmith.com, Amazon and Barnes and Nobles.
