The Journey – I – Octane

I-Octane’s latest album, My Journey, introduced earlier this month symbolizes the entertainer’s growth in the music industry. My Journey, I-Octane’s second album since the release of Crying to the Nation in 2012, was worth the wait. Each track is melodic with most of the rhythms attuned to live band music through combinations of studio-produced guitar riffs, drums, high hats and inklings of wind instruments. “It’s Alright” introduces the first guest, the German-born reggae artiste, Gentleman.

Five tracks later, Ky-Mani Marley – on arguably the shortest track, “Ayah Wi’Deh” – at first puzzles listeners because of his strong vocal resemblance to his father. The duet, “Lighters Up” that follows with the sultry songstress, Alaine, draws parallels to aspects of I-Octane’s hardness on “Buss a Blank”.

Other notable tracks – “Million Miles Away” and “My Story”- are equally pleasing to the ear while imparting self-empowerment, belief in goals and faith in the Most High. In fact, there is no growing weary of listening to “My Story”: it is relatable and inspiring,” and was in circulation from early 2012 and remains popular despite lyrical similarities to “My Life”. My Journey is a creditable collection of the lyrical projects with DJ Frass who coordinated with I-Octane on “My Life” and Tad’s Records, not only has the album been created with the essential characteristics of unanimity and quality required to make a best seller, the artiste, co-writers and production team reinforced the Reggae theme of the album allowing for an authentic option for anyone, whether or not a fan of the particular genre or music on a whole.
