Ninja Bert 3

ninja-bert-3

When a psychiatrist desperately needs the services of a psychiatrist because he has taken leave of his senses, it is a fitting plot for a novel that is comedic and saturated with hair brain scenarios that are over the top.

That is what readers will find in ‘Ninja Bert 3’. Bert is a health care professional who because of taxes levied against the Jamaican patty, lost his sanity and is in desperate search of the prime minister to have her remedy the situation …by taking off her ‘head crown’.

He descends into lunacy and starts wearing women’s tights; takes a job as a security guard (only to end up falling asleep the first hour on the job!); enters an amateur boxing match; disrupts church in the middle of a sermon; scales the wall of his wife’s workplace to dance the ‘one drop’ for an enthusiastic audience and even tries to outsell fish vendors downtown.

To say his wife Marjorie is embarrassed would be an understatement and her situation is even more precarious as she has lost her job and is pregnant. A selfish Bert however does not recognise Marjorie’s struggle because he is caught up in his own struggle of being a ninja and trying to get one step closer to the Prime Minister.

To say that ‘Ninja Bert 3’ is side splitting funny would not do it justice. This novel has nuances and scenes that remind me in parts of the craziness that unfolded in ‘The Lunatic’- such is the calibre of the humour found within its pages.

This is the perfect book to read when you are having an ‘off day’ and need something to not just bring a smile to your face, but to make you laugh.

If you are not the self conscious type then you can bravely peruse some chapters in public, but it should come with a warning label that reads, “Will Cause Uncontrollable Hysteria”.

Such is the power of Ninja Bert and his imaginary nun chucks!
