One of the simple rules of life is: ‘If you fall down, you get back up, brush yourself off and try again!’ This is the narrative behind Macca Tree Manns, a tale of redemption regarding a family long persecuted and scorned due to alleged past transgressions.

Addeah Palmer’s novel surrounds a family’s return not only to the scene of their crime in a close knit community where poor but proud people thrived on hard work and the gospel. Their return also meant old wounds, which had been left festering re-opened; plus deep rooted jealousies and rivalries would spark anew.

The pages of Macca Tree Manns reveal the tale of the Manns family and their trials and tribulations. Gloria is a ball-busting man-eater who freely terrorises not only her husband and children but, the entire community who are no match for her, whether individually or collectedly. Gloria, for all her swag and temper, secretly wishes not only to gain acceptance but wealth in the process and concocts along with her cousin Monica, who happens to be the pastor’s wife – a financial scheme.
